Transition from REEM to REM
1. Overview
- Current Registered Electrical Energy Managers (REEM) with valid certificates under EMEER 2008 until after EECA 2024 enforced are eligible to transition to Registered Energy Managers (REM) under the EECA 2024.
- As part of this transition, the REEM module on the Energy Commission Online System (ECOS) will be unavailable starting 15 December 2024 to facilitate the implementation of the EECA 2024 framework.
2. Why Transition?
Under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA) 2024, all REEMs must register as REMs to continue their role.
3. Steps for Transitioning to REM
- Hold a Valid REEM Certificate
- Prepare Required Documents (all as PDFs):
- Identification Certificate (front and back). Example <1. IC Example>.
- Academic or Professional Certification (Degree, ST Competent Certificate, or Professional Engineer Certificate). Choose Degree in Engineering, Science, Architecture as first choice. If not available, then you may choose ST Competent Certificate or Professional Engineer Certificate. Example <2. Degree Example>.

- Renewal Letter for REEM Certificate (if applicable). Example <4. Renewal REEM Example>.
- Submit Application:
- Visit the official Energy Commission portal at st.gov.my/apply-rem and complete the application form.
- Read word by word terms of condition and submit in CAPITAL LETTERS and EXACTLY as per official documents. Typos, spelling mistake or difference between key in information and official document would cause Transition Application to be Rejected.
4. Closure of REEM Module on ECOS
- The REEM module on ECOS will be unavailable starting 15 December 2024.
