Energy Commission Members

The Energy Commission consists of the Chairman, the Chief Executive Officer, three members representing the government and not more than six other members with vast knowledge and experience in matters relating to finance, engineering, business or administration or other relevant areas. The members of the Commission are appointed by the Minister in charge of energy.

The board representations of the Commission members will enhance the credibility of the Energy Commission and safeguard the interest of its stakeholders.

Chairman (Interim)

YBhg. Dato’ Mohamad Razif bin Hj Abd Mubin has been appointed by YAB Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation as Interim Chairman of the Energy Commission in accordance with Section 5, Energy Commission Act 2001 [Act 610], effective 1st September 2024.

Dato' Mohamad Razif bin Haji Abd Mubin

Dato’ Mohamad Razif bin Abd Mubin is currently the Deputy Secretary General (Energy), Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), Malaysia. He began his career as civil servant in 1995 and brings with him a wealth of experience in administrative and leadership roles in various Government segments and held key positions in other Ministries, such as: Assistant Secretary in Ministry of Land and Cooperative Development; Representative of Malaysia to the Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC), Tokyo; Principal Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, Communications and Multimedia; Counselor at the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations, New York; Deputy Director at Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU); Director of the Environment and Natural Resources Economic Section in Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Prime Minister’s Department of Malaysia; and most recently, as Senior Deputy Director at Organizational Development Division Public Service Department, Malaysia (BPO, JPA).

He participated in various advanced leadership programme jointly organised by JPA and Razak School of Government (RSOG) such as: Senior Leadership Programme, Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, in 2015; Advanced Leadership Management Programme, INTAN, in 2016; Senior Leadership Programme, Melbourne Business School, University of Melbourne in 2016; and Branding Leader, Branding the Nations, Said Business School, University of Oxford, in 2018.

He also served as a board of director for various government agencies including Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (MGTC) (2015 – 2018), SWCorp (2015 – 2018) and Malaysia Programme Office for Power Electricity Reform (MyPower) (2022).

Dato' Mohamad Razif bin Abd Mubin was appointed as a Member of the Energy Commission on 20 April 2022.

 

Datuk Dr. Shahrazat binti Haji Ahmad

Datuk Dr. Shahrazat binti Haji Ahmad was appointed as a Member of the Energy Commission on 15 January 2024.

Dr. Afiza binti Idris

Dr. Afiza binti Idris was appointed as a Member of the Energy Commision on 14 August 2023.

Y.M. Raja Azura binti Raja Mahayuddin

Y.M. Raja Azura binti Raja Mahayuddin was appointed as a Member of the Energy Commission on 15 February 2023.

 

Tuan Saipolyazan bin Mat Yusop

Tuan Saipolyazan bin Mat Yusop was appointed as a Member of the Energy Commission on 15 February 2023.

Tuan Delakan Ratha Krisnak was appointed as a Member of the Energy Commission on 15 February 2023.

Dato' Ir. Ts. Abdul Razib bin Dawood (Chief Executive Officer)

Dato' Ir. Ts. Abdul Razib bin Dawood graduated with a BTEC National Diploma in Engineering in 1991 from the Coventry Technical College followed by an Electrical Engineering Degree from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom in 1994. He was then awarded his Master of Science in Power Electronic Engineering from the University of Manitoba in Canada in 1996.

Dato' Ir. Ts. Abdul Razib started his early career with Tenaga Nasional Berhad Engineers Sdn. Bhd., and has more than 20 years of professional experience, having worked for both Malaysian and Australian national power utilities, independent power producers, TNSP and as a consultant for renewable energy. During his career highlights, he had held many roles such as a construction engineer, project manager, technical advisor, systems planning engineer and a power system study specialist.

From October 2012 to August 2017, he was the Head of Electricity Market Operations with the Energy Commission before assigned by the Prime Minister’s Department to be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Malaysia Nuclear Power Corporation from 2017 to 2018. On 9 April 2018, Dato' Ir. Ts. Abdul Razib was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Energy Commission. On 2 April 2019, he was appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer responsible for the overall administration and management of the functions of the Energy Commission.

Dato' Ir. Ts. Abdul Razib bin Dawood was appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission effective 1 August 2019.
